“We absolutely hired the right people for the job!”

Riding under a new banner
Since 1926, PCD—Providence Country Day—has nurtured students’ individual gifts with an individualized, caring curriculum. But they existed in the shadow of dominant competitors.
From the outset, our task was clear: increase admissions inquiries by 20%.
In 2020, PCD had a groundbreaking announcement–through a series of savvy financial moves, they were putting their inclusive values into action, cutting tuition by 40%.
To move PCD out of the shadow of powerful competitors, we led them to a new brand focused on their close ties with the business community.
Then we wrote the messaging to properly position their tuition-reduction as the bold move it was, rather than a sign of financial trouble.
The result? Admissions inquiries went up 100% across the board.

The big idea
Most schools publish a yearbook at the end of each school year, summarizing everything that happened, showcasing group photos and a few candids.
We asked a provocative question: What if each student received an individualized yearbook that focused on them? What if it outlined the ideal course of study for their ambitions, appropriate colleges, and PCD alumni who’d walked that path before?
It’s an ambitious idea, but we showed how it could be done using advanced technology and variable printing.
The answer: The Playbook.
