“Have you seen the Great River Flag. Hooooooo boy! That thing is sharp. Can you imagine flying that over your tailgate? Or putting it on a golf shirt?“
- Mississippi Sports Talk Radio

In July 2020, the Mississippi flag came down.

The state put out a call for submissions. Two rules: it couldn’t contain Confederate imagery, and it had to contain the phrase In God We Trust.

As a former resident, and current cheerleader, of the state, I knew we had to jump in. We designed and submitted this one. It was built on a simple premise: What could the state flag designer have created in 1817, at statehood, that would still be flying today? And how could we build enough hype, in five weeks, to assure it had a shot? We built out a whole campaign and put the shield on everything.

Out of 3400+ entries, The Great River Flag was one of the last two standing.

While the Commission picked a flag with a magnolia flower, our first nations star made it onto the final design. So, as it turns out, Micah got his Wikipedia #humblebrag and in is the state archives. How cool is that?

Let's run something up the flagpole →

“For a brief minute and a half, my flag flew in front of the old state capitol. There are two left. Either way, Mississippi wins. Which we don’t get to say a lot.”
